Polished finish, openwork head and retaining spring.
Traditional uses
An object of the traditional practice of moxa: the roll holds the ember at a distance from the skin and spreads its heat along the pathways being worked.
It is used in a slow, continuous movement, never held still over one point.
Preparation and traditional-use quantity
- Setting up: slide the moxa stick into the roller, light it, let the ember take, then close it again
- Use: roll slowly at a distance from the skin or over a thin cloth, never holding the device still
- After the session: smother the ember completely and let it cool before putting it away in the pouch
Precautions
External use, on clean skin. To be avoided on broken or irritated skin. Clean and dry after each use.
