Overview
Box of 100 sterile single-use acupuncture needles, available in four gauges (diameter × length): 0.22 × 40 mm, 0.25 × 25 mm, 0.25 × 40 mm and 0.30 × 40 mm.
Versatile formats suited to the points of the trunk and the limbs, and to areas of medium musculature.
The choice of diameter, from 0.22 mm (fineness and comfort) to 0.30 mm (rigidity for insertion and handling), follows the point being worked and the comfort of the patient.
Needles made of medical-grade stainless steel with a copper or metal handle depending on the batch, conforming to the European standards in force for devices of this class.
Individual blister packaging under sterile wrapping.
Traditional uses
The standard all-round format, preferred by many practitioners for the points of the trunk, the back, the upper and lower limbs, and the zones of medium depth (1 to 1.5 cm of insertion, typically).
The 0.22 to 0.30 mm diameters suit the De Qi (the propagated sensation sought in traditional Chinese acupuncture) without excess.
The 25 and 40 mm lengths cover the majority of the classical points of the body.
Preparation and traditional-use quantity
- Preparation: disinfect the skin at the insertion point beforehand (70° isopropyl alcohol)
- Opening the blister: open the sterile blister at the moment of use; do not open several needles in advance
- Insertion: according to the traditional techniques taught (rapid or gradual insertion depending on the point), keeping to the depths and angles recommended for each point
- Manipulation: manipulations may be used to obtain the De Qi (lifting-thrusting, rotation), according to the practitioner’s protocol
- Removal: careful removal, light pressure on the point with a sterile compress
- Disposal: immediate disposal in a DASRI container (Déchets d’Activités de Soins à Risques Infectieux, the French infectious-risk clinical waste stream) — an obligation under the law
Precautions
Medical device strictly restricted to trained practitioners (acupuncturists, doctors, midwives, physiotherapists, veterinary acupuncturists) under the legislation in force.
Single use is imperative: never reuse, disinfect or sterilise a needle that has already been used.
Check that the sterile blister is intact before each use — any needle whose packaging is damaged must be discarded.
Disposal in a DASRI sharps container is mandatory, in accordance with the rules on healthcare waste.
